Question by Patrick Manson · Dec 24, 2010 at 12:42 AM · errorbce0044internal-compiler-error

Unity Compiler Errors

I can't play my game because there are compiler errors

I have - Internal compiler error. See the console log for more information. output was:error CS2015: Source file `Assets/New Folder/IslandDemo/Library/ScriptAssemblies/Assembly-CSharp.dll' is a binary file and not a text file

and - Assets/New Folder/IslandDemo/Library/ScriptAssemblies/Assembly-UnityScript.dll(1,3): BCE0044: unexpected char: 0xFFFD.

I try to fix them, I don't know what to do, like I try deleting them, but the errors keep coming back again, can somebody help?

@Statement: Unity doesn't use .NET, it uses $$anonymous$$ono, so installing the .NET libraries won't do anything in Unity.

Right, I don't know how my $$anonymous$$d slipped there. I guess too much wine this lovely Christmas night. I should probably slip to bed.

It sounds like you have a project inside another project. Try removing new folder from assets and see if that helps

Oblivious and blind, I didn't fully read the question. Surely this sounds like the problem & solution.

Well, I just tried that, and now I can't open Unity, it just crashes every time I try to open it. It comes up with the Unity Bug Reporter every time I try to start it up.

That's not good either - never add a project inside the assets of another project is the key i guess :S

Copy all of your layers. Go to file then new project. Select the assets that you will use and copy your layers into the Hierarchy.
