Question by Bcadren · Feb 25, 2013 at 12:27 PM · arraysbroadcastmessage

BroadcastMessage Problems

So I'm having the following two codes interact (it's laying in an invisible 3D grid that I'm using for pathfinding in the background). This first block:

 var grid : GameObject;
 var worldsize : Vector3;
 private var index : int[];

 function Start () {
     GameObject.Find("Pivot").SendMessage("Move", worldsize);
     GameObject.Find("SideCamera").SendMessage("Move", worldsize);
     GameObject.Find("TopCamera").SendMessage("Move",worldsize);
     GameObject.Find("MainCamera").SendMessage("SetScale", worldsize);
     index = new int[3];
     for (var c : int = 0;c < worldsize.x; c++) {
         index [0] = c;
         for (var b : int = 0;b < worldsize.y; b++) {
             index [1] = b;
             for (var a : int = 0;a < worldsize.z; a++) {
                 index [2] = a;
                 var d : GameObject = Instantiate (grid, Vector3(a, b, c), Quaternion.identity);
                 d.transform.parent = transform;
                 d.BroadcastMessage("Index",index);
                 yield WaitForFixedUpdate ();
 }}}}

Generates the grid objects and is supposed to send them the data that simply lets the object know it's gridspace location. Which they receive via this shorter script:

 var location : int[];

 function Index (a : Array){
     location[0] += (a[0]*2);
     location[1] += (a[1]*2);
     location[2] += (a[2]*2);
 }

The yield waitforfixedupdate was placed because that many send messages in one frame made my editor lock up; with it, the messages send fine; but for every single grid square I get the error "Best match for method Index has some invalid parameter". I can't figure out what this means however, as the sendmessage sends an array of three integers and the receiver is expecting an array of three integers. What's wrong with the script(s)? Also, yes; I use a,b,c as variables a lot; only for ones that have a relatively short life inside one script though.
