Question by Baldinoboy · Mar 10, 2013 at 06:02 AM · shaderdx11indielimitation

How limited are you when writing shaders in Unity free?

I was wondering if you can create advanced shaders like compute or other Dx11 shaders in Unity free. So basically are there any limitations other than ones ability? I'm still a noob to programming but thanks to everybody's help, especially unitycookie, I'm learning.

This looks well written for any starter to writing shaders : http://unitygems.com/noobshader1/ . Not an answer to your question though, sorry. As a guess I would say absolutely (Unity had a DX11 competition, this is what I'm basing my guess on).

Ha. It is funny you mentioned unitygems. Right after posting this question I went to that site and read the tutorial. It's very helpful. Also has links to Nvidia CG documentation. Thanks
