Second CharacterController Moves MainCamera

My situation:

In my game, the player has the ability to warp forward a certain distance. The distance increases the longer the ability is charged.

My goal:

I want a marker (I'm using a light with halo shown) at the spot where the player will land that is accurate according to the way the CharacterController moves.

My Approach:

Make a marker prefab with a CharacterController, removing unnecessary components. Every time Update() is called while the player is charging the warp, place the marker at the player's location then move it forward the same amount the player would if they released the ability.

The problem:

Everything works perfectly except that the camera on the player is being moved to the markers location. The rest of the player remains where it is, though.

My Question:

Does anyone know why this is and how to fix it? Or perhaps a better method of placing the marker?

Turns out that a camera is attached to the CharacterController no matter what. The solution is to uncheck the active box for the camera in the inspector.
