C#/Mecanim causing crash

about a week ago I had this working with no problems and I guess I changed something but all of a sudden when I try to test this now, unity stops responding and closes. I tried using If statements to avoid updating information too often but that didn't seem to help. The game I am working on uses mouse clicking for the combo. Again trying to fix the problem I have simplified the code significantly and have you to find the problem.

 using System.Collections;

 public class BotControl : MonoBehaviour {

     private Animator anim;
     private int punchNum;
     private float comboTimer;
     private bool comboInProg;

     // Use this for initialization
     void Start () {
         anim = GetComponent<Animator>();
         punchNum = 0;
         comboInProg = false;
     }

     // Update is called once per frame
     void Update () {
         if(Input.GetButtonDown("Fire1"))
         {
             punchNum += 1;
             anim.SetInteger("Punch", punchNum);
             comboTimer = Time.time + 0.2f;
             comboInProg = true;
         }

         float h = - Input.GetAxis("Horizontal");
         anim.SetFloat("Speed", h);

         if(comboInProg && Time.time > comboTimer)
         {
             punchNum = 0;
             comboInProg = false;
             anim.SetInteger("Punch", punchNum);
         }
     }

Basically when you click, punchNum adds 1 to its self. In there is 6 states; Idle, punch 1, punch 2 ... Punch 5. For each punch it checks if the punch state is equal to the punch variable, if they are the same for a set period of time, it returns to the idle state. Any ideas why this maybe crashing or what I can do to fix this?
