Question by Grimmy · Jan 10, 2011 at 08:38 AM · videostreamingmovie

Streaming Video Problems.

I have noticed the following problems when streaming video:

1-movieTexture.isReadyToPlay doesnt actually seem to work. If I start playing a video as soon as it's movieTexture.isReadyToPlay is true there is still a 3 second delay before the video plays.

2-Streaming a video from online through the editor sometimes crashes the editor. (My online build works fine though). This means I have to disable streming vids when I'm in the editor.

3-Sometimes the video preview playback doesnt play the whole video once imported. Infact it only plays the last second or so of a 15 second video so its impossible to tell if its imported correctly. (Ive been putting in a lot of videos and only today this started happening, no idea why??)

4-Streaming video seems extremely SLOW to stream in. I am streaming a 97kb (highly compressed and tiny) video from an online server with 4Mb internet connection and it takes about 6 seconds before the moview starts playing (using isReadyToPLay). This seems terrible, as I can start a much higher res YouTubevideo in firefox in much less time.

Are ther answers to any of the above? Cheers

I cant answer my own question but this seemes to help with a few of the issues: $$anonymous$$iro Converter is free and available on win and osx and generates much better looking videos at the same or smaller size.
