Move game object towards fps in most direct route (disregarding gravity)

Hello - I'm trying to make a game object move directly towards the first person controller from a position up above the terrain (whilst facing the fps continuously). At the moment, my object drops straight down to the ground and then moves towards the controller - but I want it to move in the most direct line, ignoring gravity.

Here's the code I'm using:

 var target : Transform;
 function Update () {
     transform.position = Vector3.MoveTowards(transform.position,target.transform.position, 1f);
     transform.LookAt(target);
 }

Sorry - It's probably something quite simple, I just can't work it out.
