Exporting package from Unity 4 for Unity 3.5?

I have a unity package which was exported out of Unity 4. Now when I import this package into Unity 3.5, I get an error message:

How can I export a package from Unity 4 that will be compatible with Unity 3.5?

What you're asking is a thing that generally doesn't exist. It's very rare for a high version software to produce files that play nicely with a lower version of itself.

Why do you need to import in 3.5, anyway? We might be able to work around whatever you need 3.5 for.

So if I had built something in Unity 4, like an asset, it cannot be compatible with both Unity 3.5 and 4?

Yes, I just need to import into 3.5. The unity package was exported out of Unity 4. A workaround will be great.

It's not possible. If you need a package to import into Unity 3.5, it needs to be exported from Unity 3.5 (or lower).

So if I had built an asset in Unity 4, I cannot release it for Unity 3.5 users?
