Slider Controlled Rotation

I'm having a parent/child issue with rotation (mostly due to lack of inexperience :) ).

I currently have this line of code: roller.transform.eulerAngles.x=sliderVal;

Roller has a child object, but the object doesn't seem to be affected by the rotation. If I modify the rotational values in the editor however, the child follows along. Am I missing something with world vs local rotation?

Can you post a bit more code specifically to do with the child object? Additionally, do you want the roller to rotate by itself or be player defined?

The roller is just an elongated cube that a ball is rolling on. I'm currently instantiating the ball object from an empty game object that it the child of the roller and is positioned directly above the roller. I have the user using a HorizontalSlider to control the angle at which the roller sits. I'd like the instance of the ball to start directly above the roller regardless of what angle it's sitting at and thought that when I set the angle of the roller as in the code above, the empty object would rotate around the same axis.. but it didn't. Does that help explain more? :)

Well, from what I can find out without viewing your code, you either have to make a global rotation http://answers.unity3d.com/questions/22814/parent-child-rotation or attach the same rotation script to the child. Those are the only answers I can think of right now...
