Lightmapped shadows on Player Character

Is it possible to have the lightmapped shadows on a moving object like the player character?. If i set up a simple scene with a Directional Light and some cubes - there is no light or shadow on a non static object like the character after baking lightmaps. If i add a point light for example - the lightmapped shadows on the "player character" will be ignored. I know that realtime shadows are Unity Pro only. The only thing i want is:

Player in light = lit

Player on a lightmapped shadow area = unlit

Screenshot of my scene: The selected cube is the only non static (player character) object. Material: Default Diffuse alt text

Is there any way to get this without Unity Pro ?

You want Light Probes. http://docs.unity3d.com/Documentation/Manual/LightProbes.html

Ah. Then you'll want my new plugin which does pretty much the same thing but works on all platforms. Unfortunately I'm at least a month from releasing that. But keep an eye on qlcomp.com

Will have an eye on it. But until release is there a way to change the amount of light that hits a materiall? I could cast a ray from the light source to my character and change the amount if it hits. Currently im just testing this gameplay idea - but a full bright first person model when standing in lightmapped shadow just destoys the whole concept.

You could, but might as well use a shader. What you might do is light-bake the scenery, put that in a layer different from the player. Put the player and light(s) in their own layer, so that the dynamic lights are affecting only the player. And the baked light would be unaffected by the dynamic light. Second thought, shadows also a Pro feature unless they changed that(?). Try that raycast thing. And I'll keep hammering away on my plugin.
