Question by michael anderson · Feb 01, 2011 at 06:21 PM · internal-compiler-error

internal compiler error

how do you fix the enternal compiler error? basicly it works perfectly on a pc but when i transfer the data to my laptop via portable hard drive it wont allow me to add certain scripts and play it. it works perfectly when i transfer it back to the pc. i actually believe that this is due to my laptop not being able to perform certain scripts thus the compialation error. my teacher told me to go here to see if i am wrong. i am using a macbook pro 13 inch laptop. the concole log isnt helpful in this case all it says is "compiler error see concole log for details, line 25." and when you view the actual log it says the exact same thing. i hope this is more info to work with. any help is appreciated.

If you have problems with a certain script of yours, how should we help when we don't know how your script looks like? If the compiler say there is an error in line 25 then look at this line, and post at least this line and some code that surround it. Feel free to edit your question

thats part of the problem. it says line 25 but there is nothing there just the error name. also at the very bottom left side of the console log it says "at line 0" my $$anonymous$$cher worked on unity video games but he doesnt know why it doesnt work on my laptop. its not the actual scripts because they work on the desktops and i wasnt the one who wrote them (that probably would have been the problem if i did) im just curious if my theory is a good one as to why it doesnt work.

It is possible that your institution's version is unity pro, while your laptop has only basic unity.

Also before transferring be sure to quit unity, so the ./tmp directory is deleted from your project folder.

Also be sure you quit your script editor, it is possible you accidentally overwrote the script in question before transferring, and did not test in unity again.

Finally to preserve file integrity compress your project folder before tranfering.

yeah i had a feeling it was unity trying to use unity pro items, but it only seems to stop working with certain scripts that arnt just for the pro. if you use something ment for the pro on just regular unity it just wont show such as lighting and certain water aspects.
