Question by chaos_hong · Jun 04, 2013 at 09:06 AM · rotateangle

I want to set object angle.

Hi, I need your help :)

I try to set object angle.

I can rotate object but I cannot set object angle.

The sphere following to lane. (left to right)

I got a sphere moving angle. (-90 ~ +90)

and I placed character.

Then I want to set character angle same as sphere moving angle.

How can I do?

I try this code but there are rotate object

     void SetAngleObject(float fAngle)
     {
             // First Way
         m_vSetAngle = m_pBike.transform.eulerAngles;
         m_vSetAngle.y += fAngle * Time.deltaTime*20;
         Character.transform.eulerAngles = m_vSetAngle;
             // Second Way
         rot.eulerAngles = new Vector3(fAngle, 180, 0);
         Character.transform.rotation = rot;
             // Third Way
         Character.transform.rotation = Quaternion.AngleAxis(fAngle, Vector3.up);
         Character.transform.Rotate(0,fAngle,0,Space.Self);
     }

I'm afraid I can't decipher what you're actually asking here. Do you want the character to rotate towards the sphere, or do you want it to copy the sphere's rotation? I'm not sure what you mean by 'sphere moving angle' either.

If you want to place a character in an absolute angle, use Quaternions. For example:

 transform.rotation = Quaternion.Euler(0.0, 0.0, 90.0);

This is an absolute rotation. It is not a relative rotation like you would get transform.Rotate().

Another way to do the same thing:

 transform.eulerAngles = Vector3(0.0, 0.0, 90.0);
