Question by greatwhiteshark17283 · Jun 14, 2013 at 08:47 PM · buildwebplayerlightspotlightflashlight

How do I get my flashlight to work?

I made a flashlight in the game by using a spotlight and putting it in front of the first person controller. It worked fine when I tested it, but when I built the game as a web player, the flashlight didn't work. All that happened was that the ground kept glowing and got really bright. How do I fix it so then it will work when I build the game.

How many lights do you have?

What does your Quality Settings for Web Player look like?

What rendering mode are you on? Forward? Deferred? Vertex lit?

$$anonymous$$y guess is tweaking one of the lighting settings in one of those places will fix your issue.

Go to Edit>Project Setting>Quality> and change the default build setting for mobile devices the issue is the pixel light count... try it out and see if that fixes it

It was set to two and when I changed it to one, it didn't work. I tried a bunch of different pixel counts but I can't get it to work. I also tried what the other comments said about differed lighting, but I don't have Unity Pro.

The only advice i have left for you is to mess with the camera itself or the material that the texture is on. I know that for some reason the point light doesn't work correctly on mesh surfaces if the pixel light count is set to 0. The light would only show up on my building meshes ins$$anonymous$$d of the ground mesh. Thats why i suggested it.

Ive been having issues with random lines in my meshes at a certain distance away from the camera. But turns out that it had something to do with the far and near clipping in the camera settings..

Another thing to try is set the "render mode" on the light to "Important" try that out.

Thank you! I set the render mode to important and the flashlight works on the web player.
