Question by Reroshaggy · Jun 17, 2013 at 05:56 PM · colliderparent-child

Add toque/force around Y axis using multiple children colliders

Having trouble coding a script using JS due to my lack of experience. I have a bar that i'm trying to addForce/torque to spin it, based on where it's hit using triggers. I have come to learn that if I child colliders to the parent (bar) and added a tag to the bar... Question How to code the child trigger/collider to add torque on the parent object. I'm trying to avoid using physics to rotate the object. My Code:

pragma strict

function Update () { if (hit.gameObject.tag == "Puck") { other.transform.parent = transform.parent; rigidbody.AddTorque (0, 10, 0); } } Example of what I need:

I'd appreciate your help getting on the right track, i can't seem to cobble together the code for this.

Sad I thought with such detailed description, someone would have had an idea. The idea is for a puzzle game, a part of which is spinning targets with a gun. The closer to center, the less spin, but it has to be an exacting amount of spin.

Your code will not compile. You don't define 'hit' and 'hit' usually refers to a RaycastHit not a collision/trigger. And you would not be dealing with a trigger in Update(). Research OnTriggerEnter().
