What are Shaderlab _Screenparams.z and w used for?

I'm currently learning how to write shaders and I'm wondering what the purpose is in _Screenparams.z and _Screenparams.w.

I know that z = 1.0 + 1.0 / width and w = 1.0 + 1.0 / height But I just can't figure out why these values would every be useful.

Does anyone here know what _Screenparams.z and _Screenparams.w are typically used for?
