Question by Magnomous · Jul 18, 2013 at 07:39 AM · floathealthbarinteger

Health bar length problem.

Hello, I think that my problem is easy, but can't solve it... I want variable HealthBarLenght to be a float, but I am dividing two integers and then multiplying it by 100. The problem is that if I change curHP to float, it works well, but I want curHP as integer. Maybe any function for temporary converting int to float would help... I will be grateful for any response. This is the code:

 var HealthBarLength : float;
 static var curHP : int = 100;

 function Update() {

    HealthBarLength =  (curHP/CharacterStats.TotalHP) * 100;
 }

Not sure if this is working, i'm not really program$$anonymous$$g much in javascript.

 curHp.toFixed(2);

then the output will be 2.00 if i'm not mistaken. Worth a try atleast. :)

  HealthBarLength = (curHP.ToFixed(2)/CharacterStats.TotalHP) * 100;

(don't have a chance to test it myself right now)

Thanks for response, but it doesn't work. Unity writes: 'toFixed' is not a member of 'int'.

There's an old trick in the book that converts any integer to float. All you have to do is to multiply your int with 1.0:

 HealthBarLength =  ((curHP*1.0)/CharacterStats.TotalHP) * 100;
