Question by AndrewK · Aug 02, 2013 at 12:13 PM · performanceunity 4.2

Dramatically decreased performance after updating to 4.2

Hi,

I updated Unity to 4.2, and EXACTLY the same iOS project which works around 40-50 fps in Unity 4.1.5 now have 10 fps in Unity 4.2.

What is going on? Is any other solution except downgrade Unity? Have someone experienced similar problem?

I bet your lighting mode was set to "Deferred" in player settings. In 4.2, they started to support deferred mode on Mobile platforms and it require more performance.

Before 4.2, even if it was set to "deferred" it was working as "forward" on mobile.

There is no "Rendering path" option in Player Settings for iOS. Only "Static Batching" and "Dynamic Batching"

I know but I think it's using the same setting from standalone. Did you check standalone render path?

Yes, that was it!!! I changed "Rendering path" to "forward", and now is ok. Thank you Xtro!
