Why doesnt Unity tell me about v4.2?

Question

How come that Unity doesnt popup with the new version 4.2, even though its set to check for new updates?

Because they don't trigger the update mechanism until they decide that the new version is good enough for mass adoption. Since 4.2 has been out for a while now, I assume they've decided to hold off until the next version (or maybe they just forgot...).
