Question by piedoom · Aug 26, 2013 at 10:02 PM · conditional

Help with conditional

 if filterObjects == true
     {
     //only let specified object perform following code
         {
         //action performed
         }
     }
 else
    {
    //perform above action reguardless
    }

Look at the above. In unity, I'd like to be able to maximize the usage of one script. I have a button that can either be activated by all objects, or only by a specific object.

If it is set to filter objects, the script will first check that the activator is the specified object, otherwise, it will not perform the action.

If the button is not set to filter objects, it will perform the action reguardless

How can I write this without repeating the action twice (as in above?)

You mean something like..

 var activator : object;
 if((activator!=null && caller==activator)|| activator==null){
 //do things..
 }

All you would have to do would be to specify the activator and find a way to find out which object called the script.

Wow, I can't believe that completely slipped by me. I need more sleep :) Thanks.
