Question by digitaltoon · Sep 09, 2013 at 05:27 PM · games

Can we use games from game dev kits free and clear?

We bought several games in the Unity Asset Store.

Can we use them free and clear.

As I understand it, we bought the code and can modify it however we want.

then market it as our own.

is that correct?

Thanks

Hey iCHeeryl, I think I did comment on what you said and I am sorry you are having a bad day.

Why is modifying a game dev kit and selling it illegal since that is the whole purpose of a game dev kit...riddle me that batman????

Please next time read! You said that you have kit(you do not own) and you added few changes/fixes/improves/models/etc. and you SAID that you want to sell it on assets store! You $$anonymous$$UST BUILD game STANDALONE EXE. You can not sell it as ASSETS/FILES!!!. So:

1.You can sell it as game (exe)

2.You can NOT share (files, you DO NOT OWN) with other ppl

3.You can NOT sell (files, you DO NOT OWN)

Read license! This is just basic.

Note: Files/Assets --- scripts/models/audio/and sooo on!

I am just interested in selling it as a game and making sure that we have the rights to do that.

So thanks for your reply and I hope you are having a better day today.

Cheers!

So reading through this(or fast skimming in the case of the legal document...

If I buy a kit and alter the original art in the kit and sell it back on Unity Asset Store...

That is all OK? Legal and all that sort of stuff?

Next time comment on my answer. I will reply you there. This is not answer!

It's like you're selling what you already bought, with some modifications. It is illegal.
