Mass placed trees are darker

Dear unity community,

in my scene I have a terrain, a sun (directional light) and a reflex light. When I place trees with the tree brush on the terrain all looks good. When I place trees per hand (model prefab) it also looks good.

But when I mass place trees via the button, they are a lot darker than the non-mass placed. I don't know why and I've played aroudn for hours now :(

Someone's got some ideas? :)

Thanks for helping, guys!alt text

What button are you referring to here?

When you click on the terrain and click on the paint trees button you'll get the option of painting trees with the brush or click the mass place trees button. For further information on this button see: http://docs.unity3d.com/Documentation/Components/terrain-Trees.html

I think its probably the type of lighting..but to test for a sure solution, make 2 box with 2 different type of materials, one with simple material using a diffuse shader, and the other using the Nature/Tree soft leaves material. Now mass place this without changing any light conditions in the scene. And know what your lighting method is, Forward or Deferred. When you come back with results, I can probably tell you whats happening wrong.

Dear Starwalker, thank you for your help. I tried your method but I coudln't see the mass placed cubes. Anyways I believe this error occurs maybe through the color variations of mass placing trees. I saw too trees of the same kind each other and one was really more darker. Although I turn the color variation on the mass placing tree settings down, the black trees still occur. I changed the light rendering methods too (forward and deferred) but it didn't make any change on the dark trees. :(

Yep it's the color variation.. If I place the trees with the paint brush and set the color variation something above 0 trees placed are getting darker. If I set it to even 1 they turn nearly black. But why does $$anonymous$$ass placing trees not recognize me if I set the color variation to 0=! $$anonymous$$an I hate this terrain editor in unity: If you mass place trees they start looking black and if you paint brush them they all have the same direction. Shall I now place 10000 trees with my bare hands or what? :(
