Adjusting Mecanim animation effect on bones?

Hi,

I'm wondering if it's somehow possible to change the effect of how much the Mecanim animations control the bones or finetune the effect somehow.

In this image below I have my golem in T-pose in the upper left corner and next to it, it's in mecanim's idle animation state. As you can see, his legs are going wider than his shoulders and the arms are too close to each other so they should be adjusted somehow.

Below those there's an example of what I'm looking for, demonstrated on Mixamo. For example the "Arm space" slider allows me to wider the arms for the walking animation.

Can this be done somehow in Unity with Mecanim?

I noticed that I still have alot to learn with IKs and in this case IKs weren't even used. Perhaps IKs could provide a solution for this problem? At least they give me dozens of new questions.

Progress so far: I managed to fix the legs with "Additional settings" while configuring muscles with "Feet spacing". But none of the arm sliders made the golem's arms any wider. Couldnt' find anykind of visual change. This kind of trial-and-error fixing was also very unhandy because there was no visual feedback about the change and every time applying and playing the game was required.

New questions:

  1. Could I adjust the mecanim walk animation with IKs? If so, I'd like to see some tutorials about how to actually add IKs inside Unity and how would the adjustment be done.

  2. Should I add IKs for example in Blender or afterwards in Unity? Does the humanoid retargeting system support imported IKs?

  3. Can the feet IK shown in animation preview window be somehow enabled to my Golem or is it just visual teasing leading to the store?

  4. And as like in the begining, if I choose not to use IKs, are there any solutions to adjust those ready made mecanim animations?

After googling for possible IK tutorials, I was just directed to the "Mecanim Example Scenes" package with no explanations. Are there any good IK tutorials around for mecanim?
