Question by Ashish Dwivedi · Jan 31, 2014 at 10:05 AM · colliders

Is there any way so that 2d collider collides with only those collider which I want but not the others ?

Suppose I'm having 3 colliders A , B ,C so that A can collide with B and C but B and C cann't collide with each other. Does anyone having idea about this problem?

Layers would in my opinion be the easiest and "cleanest" solution.

You could set B or C to be disabled onEnter then enabled onExit.

Thanks for your idea, but what will happen when if A collides to B or C after making disable. I'll not get exact behaviour between A and B (or C) which is disabled.

Ok, then don't disable any colliders and script a test for all cases. Test who is colliding with whom and act accordingly. If A collide with C do "the AC thing" If B collide with A do "the BA thing" ... and so on ...

I got the solution. Simply by using this method i can ignore collision between any of 2 colliders.

static void IgnoreCollision(Collider collider1, Collider collider2, bool ignore = true);

You define separate layer for each collider A,B,C. and then simply ignorecollision between layer of B & C collider.

physics.ignorecollision("B Layer","C Layer");
