Question by zee_ola05 · Mar 11, 2014 at 05:18 PM · animation2d

animator.Play() weird behaviour

Let's say I have two animations, Run and Walk. Currently animating is the Run sequence.

When I do this in code, it ends up animating Walk:

 void SomeMethod()
 {
     animator.Play(walkAnimation);
     .
     .
     .
     animator.Play(runAnimation);
 }  //still plays walkAnimation

How can I work around this? Anyone? Thanks!

This is my theory regarding the behavior of Play()...

  1. Initial animation is RUN

  2. animator.Play(WAL$$anonymous$$); // is current animation WAL$$anonymous$$? If not, nextAnimation = WAL$$anonymous$$

  3. animator.Play(RUN); // since current animation is RUN, disregard

  4. Change animation NEXT FRA$$anonymous$$E

try

 void SomeMethod()
 {
     animation.Play("walkAnimation");
     .
     .
     .
     animation.Play("runAnimation");
 }

whats with the periods in your code.. i hope thats not actually in there and your just using them to show relevant bits..

you havent stated whether runAnimation or walkAnimation are variables so they have to be in quotations. Id be nice to see the rest of your code if that doesnt work?

I think it can be replicated with these..

 void Awake()
 {
     animator.Play(runAnimation);
 }

 void Start()
 {
     animator.Play(walkAnimation);
     animator.Play(runAnimation);
 }

The expected result is the runAnimation... but walkAnimation would play ins$$anonymous$$d.
