Question by Jrobson · Mar 18, 2014 at 07:25 PM · ontriggerenterbce0018

does not denote a valid type ('not found').

I am trying to use OnTriggerEnter to enable a navmesh script. The script is checked "off" to begin with. the navmesh script is:

 using UnityEngine;
 using System.Collections;

 public class EnemyNavScript : MonoBehaviour
 {
     NavMeshAgent agent;
     public Transform target;

     void Start ()
     {
     }

     void Update ()
     {
             agent = GetComponent<NavMeshAgent> ();
             agent.SetDestination (target.position);
         }

The trigger script is:

 #pragma strict

 var EnemyScript : EnemyNavScript;

 function Start () {

 }

 function Update () {

 }

 function OnTriggerEnter () {
     EnemyScript = GetComponent(EnemyNavScript);
     Script.enabled = true;

 }

The error I get is: BCE0018: The name 'EnemyNavScript' does not denote a valid type ('not found').

Forum searches suggest this is a problem with where I've placed my scripts. I've tried both scripts in Assets root and Assets/Scripts but get the same result. Is it because one is C# and one is js? I tried converting the js to C# but had no luck. Go easy on me, I'm new to Unity.

Move your C# script to Assets/Standard Assets.

Thanks. That fixed it. Now I just have to get the script to work :-)
