Mouse event order

Hello,

I have a prefab with a bunch on the screen, when i select (OnMouseDown) one of them my trigger works and it lights up... perfect. I also have a static variable to limit the selecting to only 1.

Now, i want to also detect all mouse clicks and if the object is not clicked, i want to automatically unselected it. So, if i click in empty space a selected object will become unselected. And if i click a second object, the first will become unselected.

I have tried Input.GetMouseButton(0) in update function, but the problem is that the Event is triggered first, then the update is run and the object becomes unselected right away.

Is there some event that can detect all mouse clicks, then inside the event decide if this object was clicked?
