Game Modding Simulator Racing Game

Hi All,

I'm currently creating a Racing Simulator Game and I would like to allow users to mod parts of it. Such as adding skins for cars, Modelers can create tracks and add them and modelers can add cars. I've looked around and have seen some suggestion on how to allow people to mod some games but nothing that I think will work for what I want to do.

This game is for the PC, and not a webplayer game.

I have Rfactor and it is moddable. I think this is a simple to follow way to setup a moddable game, is easy for both the advanced and novice computer user. It starts and the looks at the config file which points to the directories.

Such as

SoundDir=GAMEDATA\ SOUNDS, TracksDir=GAMEDATA\ LOCATIONS, VehiclesDir=GAMEDATA\ VEHICLES,

it also points to user controller setup and user log directory.

This allows for user changes when modding.

My question is, how could this be done and is it even possible to make a game within unity that will allow for this.

Any help on this will be great as many others would like to know as well.

I have added pics to help visually

This is the Rfactor Scene/location (track) Directory

This is the Vehicle Directory which within each Car Directory contains the Vehicle Meshs in a compressed file and a folder for users to add skins to car within that mod. alt text

Thankyou

Sean
