Help with Meshes

When I put my meshes into a folder, then rename them the material and the actual mesh split. Resulting in my object being gray and no color. I don't want it to separate. Before renaming the color was there. HELP please.

Basically I get a mesh from the imported folder and place it in a new one. To use it I have to rename it to E.G Weapon to > Axe after doing such the color removes itself from the mesh. Making it gray. The Material itself goes to a folder. The Mateiral is also gray. The color got whipped in a way

Normally you can jsut drag and drop your texture file on the material and the drag and drop the material to your mesh, or just assign the texture to your mesh directly.

But: From where do you import your mesh and do you import it with the texture on it or do you import the texture and the mesh alone.

Figured it out. I had it marked as legacy. I changed it to generic. It works fine now
