Character Animation Help

Hi, I downloaded this character from the Unity Assets Store (https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com/en/#!/content/17221) but after I imported it and added it to my scene it doesn't do anything. I tried adding a 3rd Person Controller Script then choosing the Animations that corresponded but it wouldn't move properly and the Animations were not working. I also gave it a RigidBody but still no luck. Could someone please provide me with step by step instructions on how to properly import a Character Model or direct me to an appropriate link. I haven't been able to find anything that is easy enough to understand.

Try dragging one of the .anim files from the animation files over to the player, like you would with a script.

I've already tried that, I put it on the actual character then I put it on the parent file but it made no difference. I will try again just in case though.
