Check mesh name on import and add collision?

Is is possible to add to my own custom mesh import script for Unity to add if the name of the mesh is for example, Mesh_Coll, add mesh collider for that object?

I usually end up having a special collision box for a lot of my objects and I have the collision box as a child to the object (Since I want it to be less triangles then the object). So it would be awesome if I somehow could check for a child name when importing and then adding a mesh collider to that child. This way my asset would work better then me having to create a prefab of every item since I want them to have a collision box.

I do know how to add a mesh collider when importing my object so that part I can handle. This question is, as you understand, more if I can add it to a child with a special name.

And a smaller question. Would it be possible in any way to attach my own custom default material when importing meshes, so they have something checkered instead of the grey default?
