NGUI unable to destroy parent gameobject in Scrollview Grid

alt textin NGUI i have a scrollview and grid as its child .I add some items as children of grid. each item is a prefab consist of empty Gameobject and its child is a sprite. I want o destroy these items using onclick.

 void OnClick()
 {    
     NGUITools.Destroy (gameObject);    
     

 }


please help me to destroy its parent from grid.. My hierarchy is in attached image. in simple word tell me please how to destroy an item completely with its parent in grid.

NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object

when I use Destroy(transform.parent.gameObject)

void OnClick() {

     //NGUITools.Destroy (gameObject);
     GameObject grid = GameObject.Find("Grid");
     Transform trans = grid.transform;
     NGUITools.Destroy(trans.GetChild(0).gameObject);

 }

this code is working but still I have problem. as in code it always destroy top most child how I can get the index of child I have clicked........... Please help me....
