Question by Ziad · Jul 20, 2014 at 01:38 PM · androidpluginadsgoogle

Ads are not shown (GoogleMobileAds)

Hello, I used the sample provided in this plugin, it's called HelloWorld. I followed the instructions in the README file, also I didn't edit the AndroidManifest.xml that comes with the plugin at Assets>Plugins>Android because I think it's ready to use, or it isn't? Also I used an ad IP I got from Admob site. But even though I did everything needed ( I think ) the ads still doesn't show up. I built the game and put it in my device ( Samsung Galaxy S3 ) I tapped on "Request Banner" and then I waited a couple of seconds then I tapped on "Show Banner" and nothing is shown, I struggled a lot in order to make it work and finally I decided to post the question here, and if you need more information please tell me, Thank you.

UPDATE : the logcat says "HandleFailedToReceiveAd event received with message: No fill" what does "No fill" mean and how to fix that? if that's the problem...

Take a look at the logcat output to find the debug/error/warning messages. What do you have there?

link text Here it is. I used the command ( adb logcat -s Unity ActivityManager DEBUG ) still I can't figure out the problem. but there is a line at the end where it says "I/Unity (18744): HandleFailedToReceiveAd event received with message: No fill" Maybe that's it? I'm not sure why it's there and what it means.

Are you sure you set your adUnitIds correctly?

I got it from admob its like this :ca-app-pub-XXXXXXXXXXXXXX/XXXXX and then I edit this line "string adUnitId = "INSERT_ANDROID_BANNER_AD_UNIT_ID_HERE";" at the RequestBanner method. I'm dying to get this thing to work...

The error you are getting is "No Fill error".

NO_FILL is returned from AdMob when there is no inventory left to serve in the AdMob/DFP backend.

First of all this means that you are requesting an ad of size AxB, but the backend has no ads of this size left to show. It is important that the size you request has inventory left in the backend systems of AdMob/DFP.

Second, their API states that the first time you request an ad to a specific ad unit, you should expect up to two minutes before the ads start serving. I don't know if it is because not being stationed in the US, but these two minutes often becomes much more time for some people.

So there are two options:

  • Either change the size of advertisement you are requesting.

  • Or wait for the ad to load [for as long as eternity ;-)]

Yes!

Try AdSize.Banner

Also Here's the table for ad sizes: Banners II

This does mean that for AdMob there are no ads to show for your ad requests as per your AdMob settings and ad filters. You might want to change your AdMob account ad settings and ad filters to widen your advertisement sector to have ads in it.

I'm talking about settings and ad filters from your AdMob account.

For details check this link: Settings & ad filters

Go to 'Monetize' tab first. It is near to the 'Home' tab at the top near AdMob logo in your image.
