Question by JesHal · Aug 12, 2014 at 09:27 AM · androidupdateapk4.34.5

Why android app size is much larger after updating Unity 4.3 to 4.5?

I recently updated from Unity 4.3 to 4.5. Before that my .apk file was 9.5 MB on my PC and when I installed it on my phone it was about the same size. After the update my .apk file was about 10 MB on my PC and 25 MB on my phone. How is this possible?

EDIT: I just tested to create project with an empty scene and .apk file size was 8.207 MB on my PC. On my phone it was 24.52 MB and this was just an empty project with one empty scene!

Ok, now I feel stupid. :D

It seems that I installed those apps to my sd card so that is why it takes so much space. When I just installed my apps to my phone's internal memory then my apps were normal size ~10 MB.

I have got that sd card less than a week so that's why I didn't encounter this problem until now. And I also didn't realize that Prefer external setting in Player settings is default in Unity.
