Generic rig with root motion is bad roared

We have generic rig (of dog) with set of clips that are using root motion for walking and for rotating. We also successfully set root node (and it clearly works) but the character is rotated 90 degree to the left (no matter what we are trying to do during export). I can understand that character takes position and rotation from root node but how we can set transformation of this node in Unity? Is it possible? Do we need to solve it in modeller (we are using MAX)? Thank you

If the "Apply Root $$anonymous$$otion" is checked, you shoud be able to mode and rotate the character.

Other way is to parent the character to an empty group and use, that group to rotate it and move it to the position, that you want...
