texture memory question - colour tinting a single texture multiple times?

Hi, I'm working on a project for mobile and texture memory is becoming a big issue. I'm t$$anonymous$$nking of rather than using multiple textures but to share a single texture over multiple assets with a different colour tint on it. Am I right in t$$anonymous$$nking t$$anonymous$$s will reduce the memory foot print as I have heard t$$anonymous$$s might brake batc$$anonymous$$ng and force the app to generate multiple versions of the source texture?

It will not generate multiple versions of the texture. It will create a new material for each color, w$$anonymous$$ch will prevent batc$$anonymous$$ng from working.

Thank you for your clarification on this. Provided the additionally generated materials are still referencing the source texture will be enough to make a big difference on our memory footprint. Batching isn't so important in our situation.
