Animation event shared by multiple characters

I would like to use mecanim's event system for various stuff (footsteps, melee attacks, interactions etc.).

I also have multiple characters sharing the same animations/animator controller.

When an event is triggered, how to know which character triggered it ?

I hope this wasn't designed for one animation per character.

If i got your problem correctly: Animation Control sends event to Object on which it is attached i.e. player. So you can print gameObject's name in Event function to know which AnimationController( and so the player ) produced it.

Thank you for your answer, that's what i needed to know. Events, though, are a mess when using blend trees (which i am), and curves aren't much better. So I'm now using a custom solution to make them footsteps and interactions.
