Import package error

Hi I recently had a project with a bunch of assets(mostly scripts) and exported them into a unity package. I then tried to import the package into Unity and keep getting an error w$$anonymous$$ch is

"Error w$$anonymous$$le importing package. Package has unknown format"

I am wondering if anyone has ever had t$$anonymous$$s error before and may know how to resolve it?

Are you using the "import" functionality in unity or are you just trying to double click/open file the .unity file? I guess if its only scripts you can copy paste them into the correct folder without using unity?
