Question by RandomCharacters · Nov 16, 2014 at 04:48 PM · export

Can you export out a WHOLE project including tags?

I am having issues on a project. I'd like to export it out and start a new project. By exporting a package it does not keep things like tags and all of those other settings. Is there a way to save everything?

Perhaps using the workaround suggested here (as an answer to the post): http://answers.unity3d.com/questions/523602/is-this-workaround-ok-its-for-fixing-lost-taglayer.html

package and project are two different things. you can Export assets as packages but you cannot export entire project.

You need to get Project-settings files from previous projects, there is no other choice.

In your case you can just copy Tag$$anonymous$$anager.asset from previous project.

and also "YES".:) you can copy the WHOLE project with Tags. Only Take a copy Assets and ProjectSettings folder from previous projects

p.s. If you're moving between projects, enable 'metafiles' at Edit>Project Settings>Visible $$anonymous$$ode>Visible $$anonymous$$eta Files

Thanks for you reply. Just what I needed.

Now a suggestion to the unity folks maybe have a export project that exports out tags and all of the player preferences maybe? Basically all of the project settings and render settings.

or I guess copy over the project settings folder which has all of this info in it, then zip that folder up.

To export all the editor settings, you just need an editor script with the following lines of code:

string[] projectContent = AssetDatabase.GetAllAssetPaths();
AssetDatabase.ExportPackage(projectContent, "UltimateTemplate.unitypackage", ExportPackageOptions.Recurse | ExportPackageOptions.IncludeLibraryAssets );
Debug.Log("Project Exported");
When you run the editor script, a package will be exported in your Unity project's root directory and will have the name given in the second parameter of the ExportPackage function (right now its "UltimateTemplate"). This unity package will have all the editor settings along with everything in your project's assets folder.
