Question by Kerihobo · Dec 13, 2014 at 07:32 AM · lightshadowsoftspot

Soft Shadows are hard...

I make a spotlight, I set the shadows to soft, I am using unity pro. Yet... the shadows are just as hard as if I had simply left them set to hard... why is this? There doesn't appear to be any sort of "softness" control on the spotlight...

There are 3 sliders, softness and softness fade, the last control whne the max distance for shadows to become soft

I don't have those settings, I only have these under ShadowType:

  • Strength //how dark the shadows are

  • Resolution //whether or not they look like jpegs

  • Bias //seems to cull my shadows based on camera distance

Aw, man, seriously??? Okay.... I see it now, thanks... another reason why I should brush up on my C++ and just make the move to UE4 already... do you reckon this will be fixed by Unity 5?

isn't a bug, also if i set a spotlight to soft shadows, the shadows are soft, the aren't really soft, but they are soft.
