Can't use characters like | and \ in MonoDevelop

Hi!

I have a very annoying problem with MonoDevelop. I can't use characters like | and \ in it. Or to be more specific, I can't type them. I have to go somewhere else where I can type and enter these characters and then paste them in. That gets a bit annoying after 1 year. I am using a keyboard that is for Swedish people if that info helps. So what can I do to fix this?

Thanks

Change your Region layout of the keyboard. In U$$anonymous$$ $$anonymous$$eyboard | is right of shift key and requires shift or its a backslash

@meat5000 How do I do that?

On windows, do it in Control Panel -> Region and Language (Win7). $$anonymous$$ac? No idea.

@meat5000: You mean "Alt+124" which is the pipe "|" :D

@richyrich: It seems to be $$anonymous$$onoDevelop specific if the problem only exists in $$anonymous$$onoDevelop...

Personally, i have a german keyboard layout, and i have problems here on Unity Answers to type the @ sign since it's on AltGr+Q on my layout. Since AltGr is like the combination of Alt+Ctrl the UA editor interpret the keypress as Ctrl+Q and inserts a blockquote ins$$anonymous$$d. I have to use Alt+64 all the time i want to write the at sign here. This is a Unity Answers specific problem (since we're on AnswerHub) in combination with a german keyboard as it never happens in any other place. StackOverflow for example works fine.

If the question is actually a development queestion is arguable i guess since it's directly related to the development process with Unity+$$anonymous$$onoDevelop.

@Real$$anonymous$$TG: I know some german people that trained themselfs to use the english layout because it's actually easier to write code since most control characters are directly available( like ;{}| ). If you want to learn the layout, see this image on wikipedia. I just looked up the swedish layout and it looks a lot like the german layout. That's strange since i can type a pipe (and all other characters) in $$anonymous$$onoDevelop. If $$anonymous$$S layout is actually the correct one your pipe should be on AlrGr+<

Well, its a low frequency question, that's for sure :)

It appears to be $$anonymous$$ono Specific for OP.

Perhaps @Real$$anonymous$$TG check the prefs of $$anonymous$$ono for anything which may cause your issue.
