IK for humanoid

I want a humanoid to hang from a specific point, point which moves with user's finger. What class can be used or which is the better way to do? Doing it using Transforms of joints is the only way I know.

The description on the help page is fairly awful, but try http://docs.unity3d.com/ScriptReference/Animator.SetTarget.html - it overrides an animator controller so that a particular limb reaches a specified position in world space at a given point in the animation. It's what Unity use in their GDC demo from 2013 for accurate hand placement when a character vaults over a low wall, for example.
