Question by mmvlad · Jan 15, 2015 at 07:59 PM · namespace

The class doesn't see another from other folder

Sorry for a newbie question, I'm just starting with Unity. But I can't understand why the class #1 doesn't see class #2. Though #2 can see #1.

Because if you place the C# script A in Plugins or StandardAssets, and the other C# script B in another Assets folder (Assets/Scripts, for example), the C# script A will be compiled in the "first wave", thus the C# script B will know script A. But script A will not know script B. Decision: transfer another script.

Thanks! Now all works. One more thing: I am using AnimationUtility from UnityEditor namespace. And because of this I can't export my game to Android. How do I do that?

You can't use UnityEditor functions inside your project. The UnityEditor namespace doesn't get put in your builds at all. You will need to remove all references and functions to it that are used while your game is running.

Understood, thank you for the explanation.

The reason is this http://docs.unity3d.com/Manual/ScriptCompileOrderFolders.html

Basically, scripts in a folder named Plugins are compiled first, separately from scripts outside the Plugins folders.

So the script inside the Plugins folder can't see the other scripts because they don't exist yet.

This has the benefit that C# scripts in the Plugins folder can be seen by UnityScript scripts, but it also has the requirement that scripts in Plugins can only really see other scripts inside plugins.

If you are not mixing C# and UnityScript you can probably just safely move those things out of the special plugins folder and it will be ok. Or move the prerequisite into Plugins.

See the link for more information.
