How To Improve Image Quality For Cardboard App?

Hi,

I've recently modified of a Unity Google Cardboard app, which I downloaded online, to use a sphere image that I took using my Samsung Galaxy Note 4. I've managed to get build and run the app successfully on my phone. But when I look through the Google Cardboard, the image quality looks very bad and pixelated.

How can I fix this, to make the image quality better? Is it a setting in Unity that I need to change before compiling the app?

Need help urgently.

Thank you.

Hi sandyI0201

I am trying to do something similar but having some trouble, can you please help me with where you downloaded the Cardboard app online. I am new to unity, if you could share a tutorial on how to link the photosphere with the unity app, it would be great!

By pixelated, do you mean lots of color banding? If so, you can fix that by selecting the image in your Project window. Go to the Inspector where it should be showing the Import Settings for that texture. If the preview window at the bottom reads "RGB ETC Compressed 4 bits" then that's probably why it looks bad.

There is a box of settings just above the "Revert" and "Apply" buttons that lets you override the import settings for a chosen platform. Go to the Android tab there and check the "Override for Android" box. Change the Format to "Truecolor". Click the Apply button. Hopefully that will help.
