Mesh Collider Problem

Hello!

I need to use a low-poly version of my car model as a mesh collider since the main model has over 255 polygons.

However when I attach the lower poly version to the model and turn mesh renderer off, the car won't collect coins anymore (and goes through walls..).

This is what my hierarchy looks like:

This is how the low-poly model's inspector looks like:

This is how the normal model's inspector looks like:

@meat5000 Do I need a low-poly model for primitives?

I mean primitive colliders, like box colliders.

Your model can be as complex as you like.

Aren't they pretty hard to get to cover the entire model? Would it be normal for a car to have closer to 10 box colliders?

$$anonymous$$esh Colliders are intended for static objects with low verts. Lets put it that way :P

10 is fine if that's how much you really need.

Use primitives instead of Mesh Collider for moving objects. Better performance.

see doc

There are some limitations when using the Mesh. Usually, two Mesh Colliders cannot collide with each other. All Mesh Colliders can collide with any primitive Collider. If your mesh is marked as Convex, then it can collide with other Mesh Colliders.
