Question by SUPPEAR · Feb 01, 2015 at 05:43 PM · androidgameobject

Make Objects fall from above in random locations?

Alright, I am making a game where the character has to get as high up as he can using blocks that randomly fall out of the sky, do note this is 2D and meant for the Android. I can't seem to find a way to do this, and yes I am quite new to Unity let alone scripting so all help is very appreciated. ( The game I am creating is like the game Avalanche on the computer )

Thank you.

You can use the Random functions to generate an initial location from which your objects will fall. http://docs.unity3d.com/ScriptReference/Random.Range.html

 xPosition=Random.Range(screenleft,screenright);

Then you will need to create the object that falls. Use the Instantiate function for that. This function will take both the pre-fab object, and a location as parameters. http://docs.unity3d.com/ScriptReference/Object.Instantiate.html

 Instantiate(prefab, new Vector3(xPosition, 5, 0), Quaternion.identity);

(I picked 5 above for the y location, arbitrarily, but this will make them all start at a height of 5. (FYI: Quaternion.identity means no rotation)
