Question by jakedeichert · Feb 01, 2015 at 11:17 PM · terraingraphicswaterglitchclipping

Why is this water/terrain clipping occurring?

I'm working with the Unity terrain system to procedurally generate an island for my final college project.

I'm noticing a graphical glitch/clipping/tearing where the Unity pro water meets with the terrain.

Take a look at this screenshot: terrain water glitch

More importantly, here's a gif to show it happening in action: http://i.imgur.com/puNzTob.gifv

Can anyone give me a reason as to why this is happening?

Looks like z fighting. Try to adjust your cameras near and far clipping values. E.G make the near value larger or the far value smaller.

This was exactly my issue. $$anonymous$$y near distance was 0.01, but once I bumped it to 0.1 there was no more clipping or $$anonymous$$ring! Thanks!
