problems Unity recognizing the Kinect on my Surface Pro 3

I am a student at U.Baltimore, our class is developing games that use the Kinect through Unity. I have the Kinect working on my old Sony Vaio running Windows 7 Pro, but can't get it to work on my Surface Pro 3 (i7 8gb) running Windows 8.1 Pro. The Kinect doesn't have lights blinking on the device when I connect the USB either directly to the SurfacePro3 or the USB3.0 hub.

Here is a screenshot of the messages in Unity as I try to play the sample scenes imported from the Zigfu's Unity Trial Package. I sincerely appreciate any help I can get on resolving this matter. Thank you all.
