Changing script to variable method

Hey, I found a script I wanted to use. I wanted to change it so that each texture would activate/deactivate when a variable float changed value.

Example: If variable 'texture' is set to 1 then changes to first texture, set to 2 = second texture and 1st deactivates so on. Below is the script

   var stillRight : UnityEngine.Texture;
   var stillLeft : UnityEngine.Texture;
   var movingRight : UnityEngine.Texture;
   var movingLeft : UnityEngine.Texture;
   function Update () {
       if (Input.GetButtonDown ("Right"))
           renderer.material.mainTexture = movingRight;
       if (Input.GetButtonUp ("Right"))
           renderer.material.mainTexture = stillRight;
       if (Input.GetButtonDown ("Left"))
           renderer.material.mainTexture = movingLeft;
       if (Input.GetButtonUp ("Left"))
           renderer.material.mainTexture = stillLeft;
   }

I tried to google snippers of scripts to get it to work but I always have an error. Could anyone possible help me with it? Thanks

You have to Click Edit -> Project Settings -> Input and define a Right and Left button.

Like this:

Input

You only really need the Positive Button and Name setting.

Thanks for the explanation. However, this isn't what I mean. I want to set it up so the textures change via float variable, not by input Thanks
