Movie Texture problems (frame drops, lag, slow)

Hi,

I'm having problems with movie textures on Unity 4.5. With FHD videos, there are frame drops, really really bad...

Any of you knows an alternative to movie textures?

Well after months of this problems i found the causing problems and solution. OGG Theora libraries on Unity su*ks. So, DO NOT convert your videos to unity using unity default OGG libraries. Use the last OGG Theora libraries in a outside Unity program and convert from .mp4 to ogg there.

After this my full hd videos runs smooth on unity :)

For a list of ogg theora converters: http://wiki.xiph.org/index.php/TheoraSoftwareEncoders

I had this problem with mp4 files and solved it by changing to ogv files.

I had the same problem and fixed it by setting QualitySettings.vSyncCount to Don't Sync.

e.g.

 public MovieTexture myMovie;
 int vsyncprevious;

 void Start ()
 {
    vsyncprevious = QualitySettings.vSyncCount;
    QualitySettings.vSyncCount = 0;
    myMovie.Play();
 }

 void Update()
 {
    if (!myMovie.isPlaying())
    {
      QualitySettings.vSyncCount = vsyncprevious;
    }
 }

This is an old problem and I don't think there's a real solution. As silly as it sounds, changing the texture frame by frame is actually faster:
