Question by billyjoetyler · Feb 22, 2015 at 10:49 AM · clipping planez-fighting

How to fix z-fighting

I have a problem which is when 2 objects that perfectly overlap the flicker. I know that you can fix this by changing the camera clipping planes, but if I use this the player can not see beneath his feet due to the ground being closer than the minimum clipping plane.

Is there a way to change the camera so the z-fighting disappears while still being able to see beneath my characters feet.

$$anonymous$$ake sure you don't ever have two objects that overlap...

But I need them to overlap otherwise it looks funny when you zoom in on them, which you do in my game.

I have a question, could you use another camera that only renders the objects layer with a higher clipping plane, and the main camera renders everything but that layer. The only problem would be the depth.

Does anybody know?

Why do you ever need two objects to occupy the same position in space? It doesn't happen in real-life, so why simulate it in a game? Why does it "look funny" otherwise?
